Riverside Girls Basketball Comes Up One Win Short of State in Successful Season

The 20-win Riverside Girls basketball team was seven points shy of a trip to the State Tournament in Des Moines. The Bulldogs handles business in the postseason all the way up until the District Final vs. St. Albert by defeating Fremont-Mills and CAM by an average of 32 points.

Riverside earned two home postseason games giving them the chance to play on a floor they had only lost one time on all year long. Riverside's other three losses outside of the District Final came from Treynor twice and a road defeat to Missouri Valley.

The Bulldogs' special year was highlighted by an eight and a nine-game winning streak throughout the year. A team that swarmed on defense, utilized their large amount of depth and played as selfless as possible thrived on depending on one another.

First-year Head Coach Mark Jeppesen says the commitment from the team was huge in his first season.

Watching the Bulldog defense all season long made it hard to believe a new system was put into place.

Riverside graduates four seniors each with a massive impact on this year's team and the history of the program.

Despite losing four, the Bulldogs return plenty to be a contender next Winter.

The 20-4 Riverside Bulldogs came up seven points short this season, the grind to get to Des Moines next March begins this summer.
